February 2005 27-02-05 TWL Update: Challenged Our next challenge has arrived. The challenger is 75th Fighter Squadron Infantry. We've selected Tuesday 01-03-05 (10:30 EST) or Wednesday 02-03-05 (10pm EST) for a match days and are awaiting word back from them. Maps and other details TBA. UPDATE: Map is going to be Berlin and is currently set for Wednesday at 10EST/7PST, however they have asked for it to be Thursday instead. Is that doable for everyone? Let us know! 26-02-05 TWL Match After Action: TDBvs[SoW] On Wednesday, 23-02-05 TDB took on Sword of the Wolf on Battleaxe. This was a our first match since rejoining the 5vs5 Infantry Ladder, and it was fought on our server; [SoW] enjoyed slightly lower pings than we did. This was also our first match with the new TWL PB settings and updated Vexsecure. Who's [SoW] you ask? [SoW] is composed of guys formerly in Kc|W, so we knew what level of skill and tactics to expect and planned accordingly. Round 1 TDB went Allies, and was able to throw them a curve ball, and gain all points, ending the round 127-0 TDB. We weren't getting as much resistance as we expected, possibly because [Sow] had been busy playing BF:V and only recently returned to BF:42 play. Round 2 however they adapted to our tactics and with the benefits of the Allied weaponry, made some initial progress that put us under drain. However it didn't last long, and within a few minutes we were able to counter the losses and put them under drain. Round 2 ended 97-0 TDB. A few notes of interest concerning this match...first Marine_TDB made his return to match play and secondly, Noronha_TDB was blooded. Although both had minimal recent BF:42 match experience, both adapted and displayed what we consider a veteran level of teamwork. Good job! Also, no PB related drops occurred during the game (which was a welcome surprise). Now if we can just get Evilone_TDB in a match.... :).
Screens below.
17-02-05 TWL Update: TDBvs[SoW] TDB has been challenged for our TWL 5on5 match by Sword of the Wolf [SoW]. If you haven't signed up on the roster, you need to do so now. Match details TBA, see you Sunday in practice otherwise. UPDATE: Match Details are available. Match to be played Wednesday, 23 February '05 at 10pm EST/7pm PST. Get caught up on the 5vs5 TWL Infantry Ladder Rules, and have Vexsecure issues resolved. We need a volunteer to host a server for it on Sunday, please contact Tex if you're interested, thanks! TWL Update: 12vs12 Conquest Ladder Retired From TWL:
15-02-05 TDB Rejoins 5vs5 Competition Yes, you read it correctly, TDB is back in TWL on the 5vs5 Infantry Ladder. Last time we were there, we went as high as 6th, and this time we hope to do better. Members need to get signed up on the roster, people interested in trying out need to go ahead and contact us via IRC at irc.gamesurge.net #clan_brigade or email Tex_TDB at tex_tdb@earthlink.net. As soon as we have a shakedown of some teamwork and a Vexsecure test, we will begin challenging. See you on the servers!
After a long absence another member was forced to inactive due to school. Roster has been changed appropriately. 05-02-05 Sunday Practice As you probably already know, Sunday is Superbowl Sunday and the Patriots and Eagles are going at it. This usually means a day of partying for some of us, so Sunday night practice is declared "optional". See you or won't :). Those of you sober enough to find your PC's we'll cover the last two maps and get signed up for ladder play again.
While Tex_TDB was busy running and gunning in a BF:V pub tonight, he ran into an old friend of the clan: Spooky. For those of you who couldn't remember, things went bad timing wise when we hired him a while back, and due to heavy real life issues he couldn't hang around. However he wanted to pass on that 1) he's doing well and 2) he's proud to be the daddy of a bouncing baby girl! Tex_TDB offered congrats on behalf of us all. Congrats Spooky, and don't be a stranger!
Just a quick update: DA| finished up the playoffs losing to *DCE* 0-2 on QT 68 (details on DA|'s page). However we wanted to take a moment and offer our congratulations to Super Best Friends on their victory over Team Warchild for the 8vs8 League Championship, congratulations. 02-02-05 Server And BBO Update We're pleased to announce that the server is back up to date, and should have BBO version 4i this week baring technical issues. As you might remember, the 1.61 Linux update required a full re-install of the box, meaning all the customs were removed as well. Well Abandoned City is back up, so expect to see it Sunday. For those of you clueless as to where that is, it's located at 67.15.19.100. Also, it's running TWL's brand new PB configuration! Vexsecure Update Yep, you read it right, Vexsecure updated, don't look shocked :P. Among the improvements are less mid match crashing, Vex ID's, and better cheat detection, as well as a "silent" update system. Two important things to do before you install however (due to some brand new bugs discovered since it's inception):
Links coming soon, try to have this for next practice as we want to test it out and make sure we're 100 percent before entering match play again. There's also another German C++ based AC we'll hopefully have some more info on soon! UPDATE: Download Vexsecure 1.7!
Why do we need new AC's you
ask? Well it seems that counting the [20id]Supersquat catch from
CAL (back in November '04)
there have been another 5 PB catches over the Nov-Dec period and
since the inception of the new Vex,
another 5 catches that PB missed. That brings us up to a total of
11. So much for the 'ol "we don't cheat, we're just good and
you suck" argument again...bans for the players involved will
go on server as will the AMBL ASAP.
Though we went into the holidays with great hopes that we'd be doing 8vs8 play again soon, a large drop in attendance doomed that and action had to be taken. Therefore 4 members were placed on probation in January, and after 3 weeks of second chances, 2 of them were let go, 1 was inactivated, and 1 returned to team play. New roster has been posted. TDB will be re-entering 5vs5
Infantry Ladder play next week. We could use a new Match Coordinator,
talk to Tex_TDB if you're interested.
Well here's the long and short of things. Then EA bought them out. Since the announcement was made, a whole series of delays have been announced, first from March to April, and then April to potentially late June! Although we are (relatively) confident we'll see a game, it looks like we have some time to kill first before any decision one way or another needs to be made regarding the game. In the mean time, prep your boxes, and hopefully we'll see the demo on time if nothing else. Stay tuned... Unless otherwise stated, © The Devil's Brigade and Tex_TDB, 1997-2005.
