Tsunami Relief

As many of you are aware, a 9.0 magnitude quake took place under the Indian Ocean and launched a tidal wave (called a Tsunami because it's the Pacific side of the world for reasons beyond us) which has killed perhaps 500,000 people and left some 800 US citizens missing (as of this morning).

If you can, members are encouraged to give relief in the form of cash to known relief agencies to help out during this time of need. If nothing else, this sure puts those Iraqi casualty numbers in perspective doesn't it?

Evilone Goes Under The Knife

As I'm sure many of you are also aware, Evilone_TDB underwent an operation two days ago that is going to leave her MIA for a bit. With luck however we'll be able to at least talk to her this week sometime. Get well soon Evil! Our thanks to Lestat for letting us have an update on this.

Competition Update

Not surprisingly, TWL has quietly closed the 8vs8 "Fall" League due to lack of interest brought on by the addition of the new 5on5 Aberdeen ladder, 5on5 Infantry League, 10vs10 and 12vs12 leagues. We have no clue how they expected to support all that crap and reasonably expect to have enough teams compete but...

That left TDB in a bit of a bind as the only reason we dropped 5on5 Infantry Ladder competition (and gave up our 8th ranked spot) was to go 8vs8 League play, which isn't happening. As you may be aware, pre-holidays we listened to the membership's wishes in this regard and knew it could happen, so we offered the option of 8vs8 Ladder play instead. Then regulars stopped showing up.

Therefore based on a member vote taken 4/1/05 of those who actually wanted to play, TDB is going back to 5on5 Infantry Ladder play. A captain for this team will be chosen soon, so don't miss practice if you want a say in who that will be.

Also practice days are changed to Sundays only, 10pm EST.

4 Members Probated For No-Shows

Based on attendance records of the last month, 4 members who previously were great guns for 8vs8 play have stopped showing up and are officially probated. Two of those members are participating in individual TWL competitions now and all are perfectly capable of reading this page or the topics posted clearly on IRC. These members need to get with TDB leadership *NOW* and explain why why they aren't participating or action will be taken so the rest of the team knows where it stands. All have been emailed regarding the situation, and are notified that 1/16/05 will be their last day if they don't get with us by then. Affected are 4 members of the BF:42 Division and 1 member of the BF:V Division.

TDB Web And Voice Update

Due to the shut down of our voice server, we are currently using DA|'s voice for TDB stuff, so be real cool if you run into them Devils, because they don't have to let us do that. Thank you DA|.

Secondly TDB web page version 4.0 is coming very soon and will be PHP based,have forums, and will host the CS and BF:42 Division pages, as well as archive the QWTF page and older CS info. Our thanks to Trigger for his hard work on it. The page will feature more advanced functionality than this one, so be looking for it soon!

As expected, BF2 comes closer to actual release. There are now so many updates and interviews available so often as following them individually gets to be a bit of a chore, so we're looking for a BF2 interested member to track and put together the best of what's out there for posting here. Until then the "latest" is that we can expect a February demo release, and game release in late March. We hope that if you are interested in making this a game you play that you take the time to upgrade your PC now to the specs we've listed below.
