BF42 Division: TDBvs4th Infantry Match After Action We're pleased to announce a second consecutive victory on our return to TWL 8vs8 Conquest. TDB swept to a 2-0 victory on Bulge and Stali. His lans are always fun :). 11/12/05 All Divisions: Christmas Break The Devil's Brigade will be going on Holiday break from December 23rd to January 2nd of the new year. Any challenges will have to be rescheduled to give our membership a much deserved break. After this break there needs to be a BF2 Division meeting to regain our focus for *the* game in town. Stay tuned for more. BF42 Division: TDBv4th Infantry TWL Match The Devil's Brigade will be taking on 4th Infantry this Wednesday, Dec. 14th @ 9:30 EST/6:30 PST. Maps are: Bulge, Stali, Iwo. Also map change. Thanks! 04/12/05 BF42 Division Update: TDBvsTUS Match TDB will be engaging TUS on Battleaxe, Anzio (Road To Rome), and Iwo this Wednesday. It's critical you all make pratice tonight and make the most of the time we got to the most damage we can on Wed. Currently the time is set for 8:30 EST but I'm trying to get things pushed back. If we can't, we'll kill the challenge and play someone who can play at a time we can play. New players need to get with me ASAP to get your paperwork and training done so that we can go into battle confident that we are at least on the same page. Thanks! 03/12/05 We're Back! There have been a hellacious amount of changes over the last month from members coming to members going but mostly the news has been good. As a result of all the new hires we have taken on, TDB is in a position to reenter 8v8 BF42 play and have done so, issuing our first challenge. We're also about ready to look at BF2 play again. In addition we have a new crew of highly skilled players that are going to help us go far; however we still need the guiding and stabilizing hand of the older membership to keep things on track, and we are asking them to go ahead and get back in the proverbial game. Our first challenge has been issued to TUS, match details pending. Talk with Marine or Winston regarding it. Most of our news updates at the moment are on the BBS so check their frequently for up to date information. Thanks! 11/11/05 Happy Veteran's Day Once again, it's that time of year to remember the sacrifices of our Veterans. Don't hesitate to show your appreciation for those who make us free. Happy Veteran's day. Attendance Warning To maintain the high level of training required to play in 8vs8 matches successfully, TDB requires a certain level of commitment in it's membership. Unfortunately we're not seeing it for various reasons and unless this situation changes, we're going to have to curtail our competitions until it does. A list of chronically missing members has been posted on the BBS. These members need to get with us and resolve their situations ASAP or we're going to have to do it for them. Your presence or lack thereof has a direct impact on this team's ability to play and following the record low 6 shows that resulted in the uT loss, we can't sit idle on this because it's not fair to our other players. Members on that list have till Sunday night, 11/13/05 or action is going to have to be taken. BF42 Division: TDBvDD 5v5 TDB has challenged *Deadly-Deciplez* for their 4th ranked spot on the 5v5 Infantry BF42 ladder. BF42 Division: TDBv2rb After Action We're pleased to announce a victory in our 5v5 match versus 2rb on Berlin. Yes we know some of you haven't heard that much with the competition we've been playing lately, but there it is ;). Originally scheduled to be on Berlin_Pro, ET elected to choose that night to pull the plug on our old server, and despite our best efforts, we couldn't get a box with a properly installed copy of BFPro to play it on, so we were forced to play it on the old, spammy version instead. Our thanks to USF for hosting the game, you guys rock! Round 1, TDB went Axis, and 2rb launched a series of focused rushes at us that we were for the most part able to contain. However they did manage to get a guy past us at one point and captured the SE spawn, which they didn't take advantage of before we got back there and dealt with the situation. Although they did manage to also contest another point, we held them up and ended the first round in TDB's favor. Round 2, TDB went allies, and despite 2rb's efforts we were able to secure a spawn and contest another pretty quickly. After that, 2rb was in trouble, and we managed to get all but one guy who grabbed the first point outside the base. Our first response got there just as 4 members of their team spawned and got off a lucky grenade before he died, killing them and allowing a recapture of the spawn. Round 2 ended in TDB's favor.
Screens soon. BF42 Division: TDBvs 6thAD After Action Following is a guest write-up by Yeats_TDB with only minor editing. TDB took on 6thAD, former ladder champs after they challenged us last week. Maps scheduled were Berlin, Aberdeen, and Kharkov. Let us know if you liked it! Map 1 - Berlin. Round 1, TDB Allied.: "The round started out with a massive spam wall coming from the north spawn point. When the sprites finally faded we got to see 6thAD trucking out of our spawn with both our tanks. After a few more rushing attempts up "Main Street" we gave up and began attacking the alley. However, 8 infantry Vs. 3 Tanks was an absolute blood bath, most of it in this case being colored blue." Round 1 ended 0-47 6th. Round 2: "The round started out with me running back from the bathroom, stubbing my toe on my bed, and hearing Tex screaming over TS, "TANKS ARE OUT!!!1~". The two tanks split, one headed West to our last point, the other went down Main to the South point. Me, Wolf, and Madman ultimately were able to destroy the T34 to protect the last one, but a few seconds later a grey flag was raised over South point. The next few minutes went the same way. TDB just couldn't get a good footing anywhere and we volleyed over North and South points. After 6th could maintain control of those two spawns we were quickly rounded up and contained in the West point and left with nothing else to do but watch the tickets drain. Like the old man in the sea, we were helpless but to watch our great marlin get devoured." Round 2 ended 0 - xx 6thAD Map 2 - Aberdeen Round 1 Coming soon... Round 2 - TDB: Allied "As usual the round began with a fight in the center of the map. Our tanks clashed as soon as we crested the ridge. Our cannons rang out in unison, "GET THE **** DOWN!!!" and a few milliseconds the armor began to wear thin. 6thAD's impeccable accuracy from long distances surely gave them the upper hand in this bout. They made quick work of us in our initial attack and soon all the attention was focused on our North (and only) point. While we secured the North point, 6thAD set up a containment strategy rivaling that of George F. Kennan's article, "X". Like a child's sandcastle as the tide comes in, our tickets shrank and were eventually defeated by 6th AD."

09/10/05 General News Lots of outstanding news, some will be hit here some will be hit as opportunity permits. Match schedule remains heavy, recruiting continues. BF42 Division: 8v8 TWL Match Tonight Tonight, TDB will be engaging former ladder champs 6th AD at 10EST/7PST. Maps are going to be Berlin, Aberdeen, and Kharkov, and the other info is posted on the calendar. Members who haven't been making practice should be in early for a recap. See you there! BF42 Division: 5v5 TWL Match vs 2RB This match is a 5v5 BFPro match on Berlin_Pro. Match is set for Wednesday and versus 2nd Ranger Btn. Members not present tonight will have a chance to make up their prep on Wednesday before the match. See you there! BF42 Division: Server Update In the very near future, members should be expecting a change in IP and connection to the BF42 Division server provided by Tawmcat_TDB via Escaped Turkey. The new server will ditch the old Dual Xeon Pentiums and replace them with AMD based machines, as well as putting us on a different network segment that will somewhat affect pings, hopefully for the better. Stay tuned... BF2 Division: Game Update EA Games has released BF2's 1.03 patch. Members need to get hold of that ASAP and get up to speed with the various changes, not all of which are documented. Also, our server is not updated currently; however we will be converting the Escaped Turkey box to BF2 operation on practice/match days to keep our box or pubbing/scrimming as needed in the mean time. Overall Match Picture We have a lot of matches to recover, and unfortunately doing the job right takes time and our Webmaster has been occupied, so we are asking for members who want to take a more active part in writing news to give Tex_TDB a yell so we can facilitate faster posting. Each Devil is responsible to every other for their performance on and off the match server, so members are reminded that if they choose not to show up, it can make a big difference in team performance overall and can result in losses which are no fun for anyone. Still Outstanding News To Be Covered... 8th Anniversary 23/09/05 BF42 Division: TDBvCTF 8v8 TWL Match TDB has been challenged to an 8v8 TWL Ladder Match by Camp The Flag, being run by Bigdog (who bailed on us within days of joining) and Bodycount (previously banned on our server for exploiting on Berlin), two of our old friends ;). Match is set for Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10 EST/ 7 PST. Maps are going to be: Great Pursuit, Faid, and Forager. See you there! Why are we getting all the new maps all the time? BF42 Division: 5v5 Challenge From K3 TDB has been challenged to a 5v5 Infantry Ladder match by Kool Kids Klub YO, an older TWL team who recently rejoined the ladder. Details are TBA for the most part, although it looks like the match will take place either Wednesday September 28th, or Sunday October 2nd. Stay tuned for details... BF2 Division: TDBvDPBC After Action The Devil's Brigade is pleased to announce our first ranked victory in the BF2 5v5 Infantry Ladder! WOOO TDB! TDB had been challenged by Dead Presidents Battlefield Corps to a match on Karkand. With Tex_TDB out of town, things were left in Marine_TDB's more than capable hands and he delivered. Round 1, TDB went MEC, establishing a strong and flexible defense that DPBC had a lot of trouble penetrating. Despite launching numerous rushes along both edges of the map, the Devils always managed to find a way to stay one step ahead and flexible enough to hold them, despite two contests DPBC managed. We did nearly have a serious error as 4 members went to deal with an issue only two should have, leaving EvilOne_TDB as our sole defender at the forward point heh. Round 1 ended for TDB 79-0. Round 2, TDB went USMC, and started our rushing. DPBC put up a strong defense, complicated by the fact that without our noticing, one of our players was AFK! Worse, our alternate was also AFK!!! Defiantly not an auspicious beginning. This unfocused and weakened our rush enough to allow a significant amount of drain to occur. Despite this, we were able to grab a point and spent the rest of the round wrestling over the middle one until one of our AFK's finally returned. The damage however was already done, and TDB lost round 2 0-44. Round 3, as TDB had more tickets, we had side choice and went MEC. This time, everyone was here and the results showed. However we had a brief scare as an enemy squad leader made it within striking distance of the middle point undetected. However, quick action by Marine_TDB and the team allowed us to rapidly deal with the situation while maintaining our hold on the other points. About the last 5 minutes of round 3, DPBC did manage to contest the forward point, but despite their best efforts, solid fragging by TDB enabled us to stay far ahead in frags and take it to them. Round 3 ended 91-0 TDB. Final Score: 2-1 TDB (170-44, approximate). GG DPBC! MVPs: N/A. Screens (with action shots!):
Our previous match experience helped us shine as our shooting, teamwork, spawns, coverage, and command talent contributed to a deceptively close victory. Great job giving em hell TDB! We want to do a demo night ASAP, hit Tex_TDB up for a copy of the demo. BF42 Division: TDBvCCI, TDBvs[RoM] Ok a few members who aren't up on current events have asked what happened to these matches. The answers are... In [CCI]'s case, they challenged us, we accepted, and they wouldn't/couldn't accept a match time/date in the 48 hrs TWL affords, which led to TWL forfeiting them. In [ROM]'s case, they wanted the week of the Labor Day holiday, and we couldn't accommodate in the time frame they liked, so both [ROM] and TDB elected to have the match killed. We hope that answers any questions you might have. BF42 Division: A Black Day For TDB For the first time in 5 years a member of The Devil's Brigade has been caught cheating. Not since Blastcoree/Blaster back in the year 2000 (when we played QWTF) have we had an incident, and we are most saddened to announce that Kohut, formerly Kohut_TDB, was apparently caught using a model hack by the PB MD5Tool and added to the AMBL. According to the logs, the original catch took place back in 2004 but for whatever reason the server with the ban didn't elect to stream it until very recently, which is why this wasn't detected sooner. Upon detection, TDB went to TWL's Anti-Cheat admins and for their part, TWL has been very cool about it in terms of penalties, for which we are thankful. However, as a result of this detection, Kohut is banned from all TDB servers and events, as well as banned from TWL for a year. As best as we can determine, he played in two matches with us during his membership, one of which he did badly in and another he did well in. One of those teams is no more, but the other is still out there; therefore, we're reducing the number of victories we had in the 5v5 TWL Infantry Ladder by 1 on this page as a result of this incident. Members are cautioned that downloading or testing a cheat is asking to get busted (and grounds for termination from TDB), and members busted will suffer a similar fate as Kohut has. Our members represent us and they need to demonstrate the highest standards of sportsmanship and honor in the game at all times. BF42 Division: TDB Challenged By CCI Our old friends in Conclave Irregulars CCI are at it again, issuing a 5v5 challenge. Katrina Update TDB would like to take a moment to remind people that the hurricane aftermath continues, and that members who are interested in helping out can contribute on the left side link or look for local volunteer opportunities. Many victims are being moved to states as far away as New England and survivors are being taken into people's homes. There's lots of ways to help out if you're interested Devils, all you have to do is look. Web Update We have three web updates to impart. First, the contact page will be updated with Tex_TDB's Xfire info, and we all know how much he likes THAT little program don't we TDB? Well, it'll be a new way of getting in touch with him if you need to. Also Xfire has introduced some new features the members might check out at Xfire.com. Secondly, we'll be adding a special section for the 8th Anniversary stuff for everyone. Thirdly we'll be adding on something special: though initially it will start as a mere link, in time we hope to integrate a web link to the 42 TS server lobby directly into the web page, though the rest of the box will be passworded. Of course the above is in addition to the usual sweep of all things updatable on the page. Stay tuned Devils... Personnel Update We have a ton of personnel updates as related to TDB to impart, most in the BF42 Division. First, Tex_TDB is getting a much needed vacation, and will be gone approximately a week (9/15-/20 or /22). Second, Marine_TDB will be in overall charge of TDB until his return for both BF42 and BF2 Divisions. If members have questions, Marine = The Man. Third, StinkPickle_TDB has asked for a leave of absence due to the need to help out with the Katrina hurricane aftermath. He may be gone some time, and we wish him the best. Twisted-Sista_TDB sends news that her move is going well and sends her love to everyone and hopes that she'll be back soon. TheRaptor_TDB sends word after long absence that he is getting hitched. Yep, the consummate ladies man is no more. Congrats Rap! Tawmcat_TDB apologizes for his absence, citing the beginning of school and a lot of morons to deal with. He sends his love. BF2 Division: TDBvsDBD Match After Action The Devil's Brigade engaged in it's first 5v5 Infantry match after being challenged by Death Before Dishonor to a match on Pass. Unfortunately it didn't go as well as we hoped, and provided a few lessons learned to apply. Round 1, TDB went Chinese, and was cursed with bad spawns as the entire DBD team appeared to get nice forward spawns, enabling a fast siezure of the center point. TDB fought back hard, launching a series of moves that eventually dislodged them, but not before the drain had done a lot of damage and cost us the round 0-25 DBD. Round 2, we had higher hopes and went US. Initially it was our turn to grab the center, and while we did, DBD forced us to do a lot of security work as they sent a stream of flankers around behind us until they were able to gain the center, upsetting what was a nice 20 ticket lead and forcing us onto the defensive. Good use of SL tactics both helped and hurt both teams, but at the end of the day, DBD took the round xxx-xxx.
8th Anniversary Coming Soon. TDBv=4th= Coming Soon. 2-09-05 TDB Acts On Katrina Relief As we're sure you've been following in the news, the hurricane relief effort is huge to put it mildly. Many of you have expressed a desire to help, or concern about the situation, but felt helpless to act due to your distance from the action. Well, today we found a way to kill two birds with one stone, both supporting TWL and supporting Hurricane victims. For the duration of the emergency, on the left, you will see a banner displaying a link to the American Red Cross that will allow you to donate contributions; because this is paid ad space on TWL as well, we are supporting our game league at the same time. The size of this disaster is huge folks, and millions are affected, many of which may never be able to go to what was their home again. Anything you can do to contribute would undoubtedly be appreciated and is tax deductible ;). 01-09-05 All Divisions: 8th Anniversary Tonight Tonight The Devil's Brigade will be celebrating the 8th Anniversary of the founding of The Devil's Brigade. Current and former members are welcome to attend. Planned activities include an address to the troops by Tex_TDB on the state of the clan, and a variety of divisional events to test our skills and ability to laugh our asses off. Hurricane Katrina Aftermath For those of you who have been blissfully asleep, this might be a good time for a wake up call. Over the weekend, Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast and wrought heavy damage across several states, as well as inflicting heavy flooding on New Orleans, LA. Hundreds are feared dead, and it will be months if not longer before residents can even consider going home again. It's important that we all take time to show what support we can, so members are encouraged to contribute a few bucks to the American Red Cross to aid in the relief effort. The Devil's Brigade extends it's condolences to the families of the victims involved. 31-08-05 All Divisions: Training Day Both Divisions have new recruits that need to be situated and trained up, and Friday is a good day to do it. BF42 Division will be up first at 10EST/7PST, and BF2 Division following at 11:15 EST/7PST. Most likely, do to the number of recruits we need to get situated, this will take 2 evenings to cover. As this is a holiday weekend, we won't take it up more than we need to, so the second part will be on the respective next practice night for each Division. Also, something else...Friday is going to become a catchall training day not only for the game, but to discuss member tech issues as well so if you want to go over stuff, that is "the" day. Members should be aware that senior leadership isn't ignoring you if we're not on the ball about a particular member's PC issues, we are busy as hell here so cut us some slack, we will get to you. BF2 Division: Match Update Following the holiday members need to be ready to commence challenging on the 5v5 Ladder. We have scrimmed sufficiently to develop our strats on all but one map, so now it's about polish and application of the hard won lessons we've learned over the last few weeks. Map Test Complete We're pleased to report that the newest mapping creation of [BC]Ringo, "Block Clearing" underwent testing recently and feedback has been posted for him. TDB is pleased to contribute to the substance of the BF42 competitive community. 25-08-08 All Battlefield Division Update: PunkBuster Even Balance has issued a brand new utility to replace PBWEB.exe! Called PunkBuster Setup, it will update, correct, and install PB on one or more supported games depending on the needs of the player, and all from one neat utility. Ok before we go into the source or the how to's let us state that all tweaking can be inherently dangerous so do this stuff at your own risk. That being said... Creative has issued new XFi beta drivers (read Audigy 4 super advanced do da, do da) that happen to include updated Audigy 2 ZS drivers that in some cases are boosting BF2 performance significantly and probably do for BF42 as well. Members with the time on their hands, the hardware, the desire to tweak some things out, and a desire to experiment might take a look at these drivers and this thread. Please be aware that it's not till page 3 or 4 that the finer points of the tweak are worked out, and that these are beta drivers, albeit certified ones, so use at your own risk and establish a system restore point in WinXP if you need to. Merciless Creations Skin Pack Normally we don't cover custom news but something special came out that attracted our attention: The "All Roads Lead To Rome" map pack has been reskinned by Merciless Creations, and the models look solid. Hopefully if the game continues for a while, we'll see a BFPro version of these maps that will rock the house. 20-08-05 GG BigDog 2 days after hiring him for 8v8 Conquest, BigDog has apparently decided to leave after after founding hYa.'s new 8vs8 Conquest team. He didn't elect to be polite enough to tell us first however. On a more positive note, we would like to say that it's a good thing that TWL will have another strong team for us to play. BF2 Division: 5v5 Scrim Partnership After successfully completing our second and third scrim last night, we're pleased to announce the formation of a scrim partnership. We expect that this will be be mutually beneficial to TDB and the other team, so expect scrims any practice day we're not matching Devils! All Divisions: Recruiting Update Well we are, and you know the drill :). Contact page, Xfire, or email as you prefer, thanks! BF2 Update EA Games reports the 1.03 patch, originally slated to come out at the end of August, isn't going to make it on time (big surprise right?). Instead they're going to release a huge cumulative update that addresses as little as possible to keep the masses happy and will most likely overlook key balance issues that need addressed in BF2 where competition is concerned. Read more here. No new maps are included, though we are happy to report that more custom, small infantry maps are showing up all the time. BF42 Division: Map Test The mapper that brought us Streets of Berlin is at it again. This time he has a new one called "Block Clearing" and time permitting tomorrow, we're going to test it out a bit. If you're interested in helping with the test, it will take place post pilot practice on Sunday. Map will hopefully go up on server tonight, and you can get it here if you're interested in trying it out with us. BF42 Division: TDBv-M- TWL Match After Action The Devil's Brigade played against Mega Men on Battleaxe Pro Wednesday the 17th. We were anticipating an exciting match and were not disappointed. However there's more to the story of course... Mega started by asking a delay of 10-15 minutes, which we had no problems with. Then announced their 5th couldn't get in because he had the wrong BFPro version. Then 15 minutes became 30 minutes. Then they asked whether or not we could play plain ol' spammy Battleaxe (making their comments later about us being grenade whores kinda ironic). So they brought in an extra, who had the wrong GUID, just like their team leader. Making things even more fun, most of their roster was actually playing under alias, and not what was posted at TWL. As readers can see, this match was off to a great start and we hadn't even started playing yet! So their team captain changed his GUID, but Lego, a member of Mega, couldn't, so after discussing the situation amongst ourselves, and why we should let a veteran team of skilled players get away with murder, we elected to crack down on this occasion and tell Lego he had to go. We of course got called rule nazis for this which is entertaining because we weren't the ones who couldn't get our stuff together. Of course this got the comments started. However, we played anyway, and for a bit things improved. Round 1 TDB went Axis. Even though Mega had four they kept things very lively with good teamwork, shooting, and grenade work. However ours wasn't bad either, and TDB took the round 23-0. Round 2, TDB went allied, started strong, and gained momentum that enabled us to push Mega back into their base. In a great surge, they were able to keep the Axis Tank Bunker in contention and used it to stage attacks on other points. However the drain was on, and at the end of the day even the improved Axis weapons in BFPro weren't enough to prevent a favorable outcome for TDB. Round 2 score: 45-0.
Please don't misunderstand us, we consider Mega Men a skilled team, despite their performance off the field, and have nothing but respect for their play. That being said we will undoubtedly play them again later. On to the screens:

BF42 Division: New Arrival Welcome aboard Pablo_TDB, Pablo_TDB recently got a high speed connection and decided he wanted to take his '42 skills to the next level. Welcome them aboard as only you can ;). BF42 Division: TDBv-M- 5v5 Match Tonight Let's not forget we have a match versus Mega Men tonight. This team is composed of experienced players who will probably know what they're doing and will make for a tight match. Calendar has essential match details, so we'll see you there! BF2 Division: TDBvatX| Scrimmage The Devil's Brigade is pleased to announce completion of it's first scrimmage and first BF2 victory! Last night, TDB took on clan atX| on Peninsula (note: due to the names chosen by EA for this game, we're using the much easier to remember second part to tell them apart, not the ethnic one). Originally intended to be a 5v5 or 4v4 scrimmage, atX| was only able to field 3 at game time, so we had to settle for a 3v3. The game got off to a rocky start as we had some issues restarting the map on our server via console and had to use BF2CC to do it, but afterwards TDB started playing as MEC, and despite an agreement about not using artillery and playing it via TWL 5v5 Infantry Ladder rules, atX| used the arty so we responded in kind. TDB was able to stop the drain fairly rapidly, and despite not having a 3v3 strat, felt fairly confident in winging it. Using a combination of good commander and good tactics, we gained the upper hand at all three points and eliminating atX|, ending the round. Between rounds, atX| announced that they were pissed about the loss and were disconnecting, forfeiting the second round.

Before laughing at the size of the game, readers should remember that big successes start with little ones, and this is merely the first success. BF42 Division: TDBv[CCI] TWL Match After Action The Devil's Brigade took on [CCI] in a grudge match following their loss to us in the 5v5 on August 14th. We're happy to say that this time, pings were better ;). This match was our first 8v8 since our last appearance in the TWL Season 3 8v8 League, and allowed the blooding of several of our members in full scale match play. 2 of the 3 maps we had never played versus a live team before either. The first map was scheduled to be Faid Pass. Round 1, TDB went Axis, and was able to to put up strong resistance to [CCI]'s initial rush. Although things were briefly in doubt, superior teamwork and communication rapidly regained control of the situation and allowed TDB to dominate the round with EvilOne_TDB coming within a point of taking the gold until Marine_TDB noticed heh. Round 2 TDB went Allied, and things went much the same, with the map ending in our favor 187-0. The second map was to be Operation Forager, and the pressure was on for [CCI] to pull out the win and stay in the fight. [CCI], going Allied first, launched a strong attack, that was able to remove our PT initially, and down our armor, though at the loss of their own. The Northern point was frequently in contest one way or another, usually due to our security not being as good as it could have been. However, constant action and teamwork started to push back the tide, and TDB recovered for the Round 1 win. Round 2, TDB went Allies, and it was our turn to dominate. We exercised much better coordination, and were able to push [CCI] back to their base and effectively keep them there for the round win, and the game, 139-0.

BF42 Division: TDBv56th TWL Match After Action Definitely one of the better TWL 5v5 Infantry matches we've had lately, TDB engaged -56th- Fighter Group on Bocage Pro on August 10th. Both teams had full rosters and pretty equal pings. Over the course of the game, we had agreed that we would do a round on each team's server. Round 1 got started with TDB playing Axis, and was off to a fine start. We managed to secure two points and hold off the -56th-'s first rush, but after that the game started going back and forth. At some points TDB would be under drain and others -56th- would be; however at the end of the day TDB's teamwork was solid enough to force -56th- back to their base and end the round 35-0 TDB. For round 2 we agreed to move to -56th-'s server, and there were problems right off the bat, as team ping disparity was flirting with the +75 laid out in the TWL rules and, the kicker, 2 of their players were pinging sub 10. Under these circumstances TDB would not accept that server and asked the LAN ping player to leave. Then the server suddenly crashed, so we returned to ours. When Round 2 did get started (TDB as Allied), the story was much the same as round 1. -56th- managed to grabbing two points; however some quick thinking by Marine_TDB changed this situation and set us up to take control of the match, which we did. Despite formidable resistance, this left -56th- trapped back in their base and despite a few points changing hands, the story ended much the same as it did round 1. Score round 2: 39-3 TDB.

BF2 Division: New Scrim Policy After last night's =IA= no show (and third scrim out the window due to either the other team not showing or a server problem on our part with the other team not having one), teams have 15 minutes to show up if they promise us a scrim otherwise we get another team. Further we'll take multiple offers first and accept on a first come, first serve basis. We've been stood up once too many times. All Division Make Up Training Is tonight, check calendar for times. If there's something you want to cover, now is a good time. All Divisions: Matching Schedule As you can see, we've done our best to keep our promise to keep things to 4 nights a week if possible and we intend to keep doing so. We will ask for match kills if we can't get a good day/time from another team, and we ask members feeling stressed out or what not to keep us informed if they can't keep up with things. The Devil's Brigade 8th Anniversary Celebration On September 1st 1997 TDB was founded, and as many of you are aware, once a year we take an evening or two to celebrate the accomplishments of team. That time is drawing close yet again. For those of you who haven't been to one, the night is generally started by an address by Tex_TDB on the state of the clan, followed by a series of fun competitions available to all. At the end of the night, the winner of the most competitions is awarded the honorary "God_name_TDB" title, and other winners have to defend their titles next year ;). Exact date is not set but expect it at the end of this month or (due to the U.S. holiday) the first weekened in September. Stay tuned! BF42 Division: Server Update By the time many of you read this, we will have a new BF:42 server IP. As stated previously we have looked into the cause of the recent ping issues on the Escaped Turkey server, and ET has graciously offered to move the server to a new data center that will offer a different route to connect through. Now while some of you could see improvements in the ping, many of you will not because the laws of physics and the vagaries of fiber optic lines and ISP providers. However we are hopeful that there will be more improvement than not. Our thanks to the members who took the time to help us out by by tracing the routes to the server. BF42 Division: BFPro Links Updated As some of the newer members are aware, we have had some issues with bad links to the TWL-required BFPro Mod file hosts that are hindering some of our member's ability to get in the 5v5 Infantry Ladder game with us. Last night, Madman_TDB went hunting for new links and, unlike Tex_TDB's hunt 2 weeks ago, was successful in finding a reliable source for the important ones: Fileshack. The updated links have been added to a forum sticky. Our thanks to both Madman_TDB's persistence in searching, and the members of the gaming community willing to host these needed (and large) files. We have since provided the links to TWL, which you can find there as a sticky as well. BF42 Division: Attendance And The TWL Roster Three members were removed from the BF42 Division's TWL Team Roster due to no shows or inactivity. Don't sign up for it if you can't handle meeting the obligation Devils because we won't play you at match time. BF2 Division: Attendance Well we don't like to do it this way but apparently we have to. Want to scrim? Show up. Want to practice? Show up. Want to join the TWL 8v8 League at the end of the month? Show up. Want to be worth a damn in this game? Show up. Or tell us why you can't. Make us come to you, choose other things you feel like doing, or just vanish for a while and we'll draw our own conclusion, but we are not scheduling any more scrims until the roster settles down and members reliably show up. It's not worth our time or breaking what is usually a very reliable pledge on our part to be somewhere when we say we are going to be. We should have had at least 4-5 members available the last two practices (even with 3 members out of town), and we have not and that is not acceptable. If the situation does not improve, changes in the Division's membership will be made as appropriate. Condolence Thread As we have a message board to relay such things now, please take a moment to express your condolences to EvilOne_TDB on the recent loss of her uncle. Also, it will be policy now to put up a thread when such a loss occurs. 02-08-05 Loss In The Family Due to the sudden death of EvilOne_TDB's uncle (due to cancer), she'll be out of town a few days. BF42 Division: TDBvs{YGD} Match After Action EDIT: You may notice that the {YGD} page is not linked in this story. This is due to their page crashing our browsers when we try to view it. TDB was scheduled to take on Your Going Down ({YGD}) last night on Guadalcanal, Bocage, and Midway for our return to 8v8 TWL Conquest Ladder play. Unfortunately, when match time rolled around, {YGD} wasn't able to field anywhere near enough members to play and elected to take a forfeit, which was unfortunate. However, rather than just waste the evening, we went ahead and loaned 'em a few players and had a scrim, which was a lot of fun, GG {YGD}. Though (due to the time) we were only able to do Guadalcanal, it was a great chance for both the pilots and ground team to get their feet wet again (or for the first time) in 8v8 play. On Wednesday, we want to go ahead over how things went, and start polishing what was at times a rough performance. We didn't expect smooth sailing right off the bat, and we know that our scrims and practices will help bring in the ranked victories in the near future. Let's get back in the war Devils!
